Examining and Comparing the Critical Success Factors Between Business Process Management and Business Process Automation

Organizations constantly seek for means of improving their business processes to remain competitive. Recently, much effort has been devoted process automation (BPA) projects. However, it unclear how these projects differ from traditional management (BPM) and which critical success factors (CSFs) play a crucial role. This study comparatively assesses CSFs change BPA with respect BPM. Using survey sample 139 BPM experts, the shows that top support as CSF warrants attention than BPA, while importance choosing project methodology significantly differs BPA. The comparison between lightweight heavyweight types indicates is relatively less explorative fsQCA analyses provide insights about patterns industries different IT strategic roles, expert perspectives, among CSFs. Overall, findings may help managers assess role key better based on focus.
